Because I have acquired a RallyX car, which I ran at our event yesterday.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
So, yes, I now have 3 cars, a bike, and I still walk to work.

no idea what it is..... but it sounds lovely

That was a damn good launch. Based on that, the sound, and the understeery-ness it had about halfway through, I’m gonna go with some sort of NA Subaru with open diffs?
I’ll say... a 2.5rs Impreza.

Understeer was the result of me missing the trail braking on the turn around, car is very tail happy otherwise. ( Also, not AWD and sounds a bit odd to be a Subaru...)
:)

That was the only place I put the camera all day that caught decent engine noise. I’m thinking about getting some electric cutouts so that I can run essentially open headers at RallyX.

Nope.

I have very crap speakers. So it’s something NA and RWD then?

What are your thoughts on renting cars for autocross, and how did it work out?
Congrats on the new car!

To tall and top heavy for RallyX

There’s not a ton of risk at AutoX. RallyX depends on the course and the car. My experience has been good, but obviously there are risks you have to be willing to take.

Nah, I already have a car with an LS.

Jan Van begs to differ.
same height and width making it within regulations, empty cargo areas means most of the weight is 2 feet off the ground.

Charger?

I’ve done a rental car for autocross on three separate occasions now. I have used a Mazda 3, Chevy Malibu, and Dodge Challenger. The Malibu had an undefeatable stability control and the Challenger burned oil inexplicably. The Mazda 3 though was a very good car and I managed to beat my codriver along with the other same year mazda 3 running in my class. The biggest downside to a rental for autox is just being stuck with whatever shitty tires are on the car and obviously not knowing what you will be running until you pick it up. You are up shit’s creek if you fubar the car at an event but the risk is low enough to not really worry. There is a higher risk while driving down the highway or parking on a street anyways.

I’m going to guess Crown Vic P71 or something Panther based. Idk, sounds like a 4.6 to me .

You know what, I’m officially changing my mind. Neon or some kind of GM J body?

It's a Challenger that's why you posted about your Challenger rental too

I’m not spending Challenger money on a car I intend to off-road the daylights out of.

Wait a minute...it's a truck isn't it

Nope

Dammit. Oh well, when’s the big reveal? Gonna make sure I get front row seats.

Lies, it’s basically a truck.

You’re not wrong.

It sure sounds like a ford 4.6 to me, so as much as I want to say crown vic my guess will be a 4.6 mustang.

Oops, I meant Rallycross! But you answered my question - thanks!
